Kitten cards and a book of expansions for the Laser Kittens RPG
Latest Updates from Our Project:
Next steps: final editing, Backerkit

I've just sent off the fully laid-out PDF to our editor, Colleen, for a final pass to make sure everything looks good on the page. While she's working on that, the next step will be to collect everyone's shipping info and names for the thank-you page. Expect a message from Backerkit in the next few days. Then it's off to the printer. We appreciate your patience as we've continued to bring this project to life.

I have a bigger update on the way as soon as finals are over, but I wanted to pop in quickly to let you know the kitten cards have arrived from DriveThru!

September update

Hi folks! I appreciate your patience so far, and I owe you an update.
My trip to China went off without a hitch, and we got to see some neat stuff and talk to some interesting people. But once I got back to the US, the proverbial litter hit the fan on a number of fronts both personal and professional. I won't get into all the details here, but suffice it to say my production schedule got pushed back some more. The good news is that things are moving forward again. I'm finalizing the tuckboxes for the cards to get them to DriveThru's exacting standards, and I'm plugging away at the layout on the main book. (This involves a lot of highlight->click menu->select Bold, highlight->click menu->select Bold -- oh Scribus, why do you not have a Bold hotkey?)

There will be one slight change in the book. The book is turning out to be longer than expected, because laying out lots of little chunks of stuff (laser lists, character descriptions, etc) takes up more space than just straight text. (You may notice in the image above that Doggy Wags, the first of the hacks, doesn't start until page 68!). We had asked our writers who were doing hacks to also create pregen scenarios for their games, but to save space in the printed book, I'm moving those to digital only. So the main book (pdf and print) will have all of the stuff to do a setup from scratch on all the hacks, and then all backers who got a book will get a separate pdf of pregen scenarios for all of the hacks. The pregen scenarios for Laser Kittens will still be in all versions of the book, though!

July update -- a brief hiatus

Hi everyone, here's your More Kittens update for July.
I've been moving along with doing layout on the More Kittens book, but unfortunately it's taken a little longer than expected to get everything on the page and looking nicely. And that means that I'm running up against a planned three-week trip to China. In my day job I'm a geography professor, and a colleague and I received a grant to take a group of our students to Yunnan province to study forest fires. I'm really excited about this trip, but I won't be able to work on More Kittens while I'm over there. That pushes our expected fulfillment date for the KS into the end of August. I appreciate your patience as we make sure you're getting the best kittens possible!

June update!

We're moving right along here at the Knoll St. School for Wayward Kittens! Since we last spoke:
1. We've put together the kitten cards and got a proof printed by the good folks at DriveThruCards. They look excellent! I just need to make a few tweaks to the box, and we'll be able to get the whole set printed up for you.

Second, we sent in the original Laser Kittens book for another printing, so that we'll have enough copies for everyone who backed at the "Complete Kitty" level.
Third, Colleen completed her editing on the book, and all of our guest writers have signed off on the edits, so we have everything we need to put together the More Kittens book. My goal is to have the layout complete and submitted to the printer by the end of June, because I'll be traveling in China for all of July. If all goes according to plan, we'll be able to ship all of the rewards in August.
