More Kittens

Hey there kitten lovers, just a little update on how things are coming along for the More Kittens book.

First, we've gotten all the art for the book from Cynthia, and it looks great.

Second, all of the chapters have been edited. I've sent them off to their writers to answer any questions Colleen had for them. 

Third, I've been talking to the folks at Keness about what we need for printing. The customer service has been excellent, and I highly recommend them to any of you who need books printed.

Finally, we've had a bit of an adjustment to the contents of the book. The Kitten Scouts game turned out to be more complicated to get finished than we had anticipated, and we didn't want to hold up the whole book. So we asked a few of our stretch goal writers whose levels we didn't quite hit during the campaign to write for us anyway. We think you'll love the contributions from Liz, Kent, Alastor, and Cass.

April update -- writing is in!

Meow meow, kitten lovers, it's time for another update. All of our guest writers came through on deadline, so we have all the elements that are going into the text of the More Kittens book! Here's the next few steps:

1. We'll give all of the contributions a once-over to make sure everything looks good and is in a consistent format.

2. We'll send all the text to Colleen for editing.

3. We can share the appropriate pieces with Cynthia to create the interior art for the book.

Once we get the text back from Colleen, we'll work with our guest writers to make any necessary changes, then we can get the text laid out and send it off to print!

Keeping on working on More Kittens

Just a little update on our progress with More Kittens:

• Kickstarter has processed all of the pledges and sent me the money, so we now have that on hand to cover our expenses.
• Dominique sent us the last of the kitten card images, so I can start doing layout on the cards. I hope to get them sent off to the printer by the end of the month.
• Our guest writers are hard at work. The deadline for the first draft of their contributions is the end of the month, so at that point I'll be able to look them over and start the editing process. At that point I will also be able to send Cynthia the information she needs to do the illustrations for the book.

So far everything is on track. I'll check back in next time we have developments to report!

Thank you all so much for being part of More Kittens! We're headed to bed, but we'll be in touch in the next few days to give you a rundown of how the completion of the game and fulfillment will work. Meow!

40 hours left ...

We're nearly to the finish line, and these next 40 hours are going to zoom by like a cat who saw something no human can see. We've passed our first stretch goal, so a magical purr scout adventure will be part of More Kittens! I also just got a first draft of the Doggie Wags hack from Maisha, and it looks great. We're so excited to bring all of this to you!

There's still time to share our campaign with your cat-loving (or puppy-loving, or dragon-loving, or possum-loving ...) friends! Or bump up your own pledge -- we still have slots available at the Cat Pictures level, to get your cat featured in the book.
